Fundraising Superheroes Episode 20: Poison Apple Productions Keeps the “Fun” In Fundraising

Imagine starting a Nonprofit Organization at 13, crazy right? Not for Noelle Arms. She founded Poison Apple Productions out of her parents garage as a teenager. What started off as a passion project has now become a fully fledged educational theatre company in Martinez California.

When asked what her biggest struggle is currently Noelle said fundraising. "We’ve struggled with fundraising like everybody does and the one thing we figured out was people don’t really like to donate to fundraisers, but they love to attend events. So a lot of our fundraising has evolved around events.”

Being a theatre company Poison Apple knows how to put on a good show and uses it to their advantage. One of their fundraisers is a cabaret where the teachers of Poison Apple Productions get to show off their skills. Noelle explains it’s a great opportunity to show her passion  for the organization. "I think as leaders of nonprofit organizations we can’t devalue how much people look to us to hear our story and learn more about us, because I think people really connect to your personal investment and why you started this company”
